Title Fight
From pop-punk to shoegaze: two albums, and a handful of songs to start with.
Haakyoon Lee

Title Fight is a band from Kingston, Pennsylvania. They started out playing more of a pop-punk style at the beginning of their career before developing into hardcore, emo rock, punk, and shoegaze that sounded more brutal, crushing, and heavy. While the background itself is pretty interesting, I do think that the atmosphere and culture that they have created is the part that is even more fascinating.
Two albums that I would recommend listening to are Shed and Floral Green. It was the first time that I had heard music that sounded aggressive and direct, with loud, punchy drums combined with an electric guitar tone of blown-out and distorted sound. If you don't want to listen to a whole album, you could start by listening to "Safe in Your Skin," which is the song that got me into this genre of music, as well as Shed and "GMT (Greenwich, Mean Time)."
While Shed was leaning more toward melodic hardcore and emo punk, Floral Green was closer to shoegaze and grunge type of style. A few things that I like about this album are that the guitar production is heavily layered, with reverb and a bit more melodic sound, although still keeping the energy throughout. You can also get a quick taste from listening to "Numb, But I Still Feel It," "Leaf," or "Head in the Ceiling Fan."
After listening to these albums and songs, you're going to feel like a 40-year-old divorced man who is going through the real struggles of life with nowhere to go, drinking a couple beers at a local bar and going for a drive right after, the volume all the way up, jamming to Title Fight with a beer in his hand and pondering over his life.
