Mental health problems and burnout among teenagers are becoming a major social issue in schools around the world. Experts say increasing academic pressure, social media use, and lack of rest are causing many students to feel emotionally exhausted.
According to counselors and teachers, more teenagers are experiencing anxiety, stress, and depression than ever before. Many students struggle to balance schoolwork, extracurricular activities, sports, leadership roles, and social life while also trying to prepare for college and future careers.
A recent student survey found that many teenagers sleep fewer than six hours per night during the school week. Health experts warn that poor sleep and constant stress can negatively affect concentration, emotional health, and academic performance.
Social media is also considered one of the main causes of teen burnout. Students often compare themselves to others online, leading to feelings of insecurity and pressure to appear successful or perfect.
"I feel like I can never fully relax," said one high school student. "Even when I finish one assignment, I immediately start worrying about the next thing."
Schools are beginning to respond by offering mental health counseling, wellness programs, and stress management workshops. Some educators are also calling for reduced homework and more flexible academic schedules.
Experts believe solving the problem will require cooperation between schools, parents, and students. As awareness about mental health continues to grow, many hope schools can create healthier environments where students can succeed without sacrificing their well being.
