Staff Interview: Mrs. Annatoria Sibanda

Interviewed by Caiden Kim.

Could you tell us little bit about yourself? who you are, what are your hobbies, maybe a fav band, etc...?

I am an English and Psychology teacher from South Africa who somehow ended up staying in Korea longer than they should have. When I am not teaching, I love taking photos and videos, reading, spending time with my whippet, cooking and playing video games. I am naturally curious, enjoy learning things and discovering new ways to make everyday an interesting day.

As a member of the VIS community, could you share with us what your experience here is like? what do you find enjoyable or what is challenging?

I find the moments when students make connections on what they are learning and their own lives or the world around enjoyable. A challenge would be balancing creativity and flexibility with assisting students in developing responsibility and independence they will need once they graduate.

If you were a student at this school, which teacher would you be most afraid of?

Ms. Arlene! She's so sweet. If she were ever disappointed in me, I would know that I had failed terribly somewhere along the way.

If your life were a movie, what would the title be?

Everything, Everywhere All at Once

If your personality were a food, what food would it be?

Ginseng- it has a unique taste that might take some time getting used to, but it's good for you.

For any struggling students in your care, what would be your advice for them to succeed in your class?

You need to give it your all. Try your best and always strive to act with integrity. You will not always have the motivation, and that's okay. Discipline will carry you through moments where motivation takes its frequent breaks.
